This Privacy Policy explains how Groundworkers.co (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your data when you use our website and mobile app (the “Service”).
Data We Collect
Account Information
When you register, we collect your name, email address, phone number, postcode, and profile details including your groundworker type, CSCS card information, plant/machine experience, and availability status.
Company and Site Information
If you register as a company or site contractor, we collect your company name, site address, and job listings including the operatives you need.
Messages
Messages you send to other members through the Service are stored to enable communication. We do not make message contents available to the public.
Location Data
We only ask for your postcode area: the first part of your postcode and the next number (for example M1 1, not M1 1AE). If you type a full postcode we cut it down to the area before saving it. Your dot on the map is placed near the centre of that area, never at your address. Postcode area locations contain OS data © Crown copyright and database right, Royal Mail data © Royal Mail copyright and database right, and ONS data licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
How We Use Your Data
- To connect groundworkers with construction sites and subcontractors
- To display your availability and location on the map
- To enable messaging between members
- To send you email notifications about your account and messages
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Service
Who Can See Your Data
Public
Your approximate location (postcode area) and availability status are shown on the public map. Your name and profile details are only visible to logged-in members. Your phone number and email address are never shown to other members.
Members
Logged-in members can see your profile details, availability, and contact you through the messaging system.
Operators
Site operators (admins and site managers) can see information about sites and workers they manage.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (a PostgreSQL database) with Row Level Security policies that enforce access control at the database level. Passwords are never stored in plain text. We use HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted between your device and our servers.
Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from your dashboard. This permanently removes your profile, photos, availability, map pin, messages and conversations, and any company and sites you administer alone. See how to delete your account.
Your Rights
- Access: You can view your data through your dashboard.
- Correction: You can update your profile information at any time.
- Deletion: You can delete your account from your dashboard, or by emailing accounts@groundworkers.co.
- Opt-out: You can opt out of email notifications in your account settings.
Cookies and Local Storage
The Service uses essential cookies and local storage for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the Service.
